Eeek! We did it. We splurged and tried Chase’s Luxury Hotel and Resort Collection (LHRC) in Austin. In this article, I will go over cost and benefits, what cards can get you there, and whether it worth it. First off, I cannot say enough good things about Austin. We had the BEST time. We stayed for 3 nights at the Hyatt Regency on points, but splurge on our fourth night and stayed at the Fairmont, Austin.

Cost, Benefits & Perks
The total for our stay was $236 for 1 night. Now, that is kind of steep and we could have redeemed points somewhere else, but I was curious to try it. And, for the benefits, I thought it may be worth the cost. So, what did we get? Here is a list of the benefits:
- Early check-in and late check-out
- $100 hotel credit to use on property
- Breakfast buffet for 2 OR, $26 each breakfast credit
- Upgraded room (subject to availability)
- Complimentary wifi

We stayed at the hotel on a Saturday night and we got to use ALL the benefits listed above. Probably the greatest thing for us was the early check-in and late check-out. We checked in at 11.30am, they upgraded us to a Deluxe King Suite (it seemed like just a normal room to be honest!), and we checked out the next day at 2pm. We had a night flight, so we were able to hang at the pool until dinner time and then headed to our flight. Without this benefit, I feel like my partner and I would have been stranded wandering around Austin for hours.
The hotel credit also worked in our favor because the property has FIVE restaurants and bars on property. Saturday night was SO cold, so we chose to have dinner in the beautiful hotel lobby. There, we listened to live music and enjoy yummy bites off their menu. Some highlights were the roasted carrots and the french onion soup.
The next day, we had a nice breakfast at Revue restaurant. My partner had the buffet which was okay, and I ordered a la carte, which was good. I would not have paid cash for this breakfast, but it was decent! After breakfast, we left the hotel to go kayaking, and came back at 1.30pm to pack and check out. With $30 left in our hotel credit, we went to Good Things (the coffee lobby shop) and bought a few snacks and drinks BEFORE check-out to take with us to the pool. On Sunday, we ended up spending $0 dollars for food and beverages.
Using LHRC
The LHRC is a lot like American Express’ Fine Hotels and Resorts benefit. However, if you aren’t carrying an Amex Plat around, Chase’s new(ish) collection is great way to experience the same kind of luxury. Some of the cards that currently offer the LHRC are*:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve
- United Explorer
- United Getaway
- United Business Card
- *Word on the street is that some other cards also offer the benefit, so check any of your Chase cards to see if you have also have access!
In order to book a night using LHRC, you can go directly to their website, but you will need to make sure you have a qualifying credit card that allows you to book. Alternatively, you can go through the Chase Portal (See photos below). Once you choose your destination, list will include several properties all which offer their own unique amenities. Hit ‘book’ and you will be on your way!
Worth it?
So… was it worth it? For us, it was totally worth it. It worked well for our schedule, late night flight and our eating habits, BUT the longer you stay, the less valuable all the perks become. Remember, it is $100 per STAY, NOT per night. With that in mind, if you are thinking about a little splurge, with top of the line cozy sheets, fancy robes, access to a beautiful gym and spa, and a spectacular HEATED pool and jacuzzi, my vote is yes!
